Chemical Peeling
What Is Chemical Peeling?
Chemical peeling is a treatment that applies an acid-based solution to the skin to remove old, dead skin cells and promote skin turnover. By normalizing the skin’s metabolic cycle, it can help improve acne, acne scars, clogged pores, dullness, and rough texture.
In addition, removing excess dead skin cells and sebum improves the absorption of topical medications and skincare products. The treatment itself is completed quickly, and repeated sessions can lead to smoother, more radiant skin.
Chemical Peeling Is Recommended For
- Those concerned about acne or acne scars
- Those who want to improve clogged or enlarged pores
- Those who want to improve skin dullness or rough texture
- Those concerned about shine caused by excess sebum production
- Those who want to improve makeup application
- Those who want to enhance the effectiveness of skincare products
Chemical Peeling Solutions
Typical solutions include salicylic acid macrogol and glycolic acid. Our clinic uses salicylic acid macrogol, which is gentle on the skin and has a high safety profile.
Chemical Peeling Treatment Flow
STEP 1: Consultation and Signing of Consent Form
For those who have not yet had a prior consultation, a physician will first check the condition of the skin and determine whether the treatment is appropriate. Other treatment options may also be suggested. After an explanation of potential side effects, you will be asked to sign an electronic consent form.
STEP 2: Cleansing and Preparation
If you are wearing basic skincare products, you will be guided to the powder room. Please thoroughly cleanse away sebum. Once the skin is clean, the treatment will begin.
STEP 3: Application of the Solution
The peeling solution is lightly applied to a few areas first, then thoroughly applied to the entire face. The solution is left to absorb for about 5 minutes.
STEP 4: Wiping Off the Solution
The peeling solution is gently wiped off with gauze.
STEP 5: Cleansing
For facial treatments, please rinse with water.
STEP 6: Moisturizing
COSMETICA RIVIERA’s original vitamin C lotion, VC Serum Limone, is applied. Please take some in your hands and pat it into the skin until the sticky feeling disappears. (Purchase is available for those who wish.)
STEP 7: Post-Treatment Guidance
After the treatment, the skin’s condition is checked, and precautions for daily life and the timing of the next session are explained. Consultations regarding skincare products are also available.
Risks and Side Effects of Chemical Peeling
Discomfort During the Procedure
You may feel a tingling or warm sensation when the solution is applied, but this usually subsides within a few minutes.
About Downtime
Temporary redness, dryness, or peeling may occur after the treatment. Those with sensitive skin should be especially careful, but these symptoms typically settle within a few days with adequate moisturizing.
Those Who Cannot Receive Chemical Peeling
Those with a salicylic acid allergy or aspirin-induced asthma cannot receive this treatment.
Difference From Massage Peel
Both are classified as peeling treatments, but they act on different layers of the skin.
- Chemical peeling: Acts on the epidermis, removing dead skin cells to regulate turnover. The main purpose is to improve acne, pores, and dullness.
- Massage peel: Works on the dermal layer to promote collagen production. The main purpose is anti-aging care, such as improving firmness, radiance, and sagging.
We will recommend the most suitable treatment based on your symptoms and preferences.
